Getting started
Set up your first Relay Address
Give an account its own email address and receive its mail in the inbox you already use. Start with one address, check that mail reaches you, then use it for an account.
Choose your inboxGet one address working
Choose where mail arrives
Open Destinations, choose Add destination, then Inbox. Enter the inbox you want to use and verify it with the code sent there. You are ready when it shows Verified. Already have a verified inbox? Use it.
Create and connect your address
Open Inbound and choose New Relay Address. Keep the generated address and add a private label to remember where you will use it. Under Connections, choose Add connectionand select your verified inbox. Choose Create Relay Address. The connection is what forwards new mail to you.
Receive and reply
Copy your Relay Address and send it a message from another email account. Check that the forwarded message reaches your usual inbox. Reply to that message from the same verified inbox, then check that the other account sees your Relay Address as the sender. Review your signature, quoted text, and recipients before sending: they can reveal personal details. You are ready when both directions work.
Use it for one account
Give that account your working Relay Address when you sign up or change its email. Complete the account's email verification and check that a normal message arrives. Give another account its own Relay Address when you want to control its mail separately.
If you are changing an important existing account, check its recovery path before changing the email and keep the old inbox available until the new route works.
How the address and inbox work together
Your Relay Address is the address you give a site or person. Your inbox destination is the email account where you already read mail. A connection between them forwards new mail. Signing in does not connect your account email as a destination automatically.
Frequently asked questions
The message has not arrived. What should I check?
Look in your junk folder first. Then check that your inbox says Verified, it's listed under the Relay Address's Connections, and Accept incoming mail is on.
Open the address's Activity to see whether RelayKit received the message and what happened when it tried to forward it. Accepted by next server means the next mail server accepted the message. It doesn't confirm that the message reached your inbox.
Can I reply without showing my usual inbox address?
Yes. Reply to the forwarded message from the verified inbox you connected to that Relay Address. The other person sees your Relay Address as the sender.
Check your signature, quoted text and recipients before sending. They can reveal personal details, as can using a different sending identity.
You reply in your usual mail app. RelayKit doesn't have a compose window for starting new conversations.
What if a reply doesn't go through?
Check that you sent it from your verified inbox. If RelayKit detects a delivery failure, it emails a failure notice to the inbox you sent the reply from.
A mail server accepting your reply doesn't mean the other person received or read it. Make sure your test reply works before changing the email on an account where replies matter.
Is RelayKit a new inbox?
No. Your mail arrives in the inbox you already use. RelayKit's Activity shows when a message arrived and what happened to delivery. You can't read message bodies or open attachments there.
Why has the sender or reply address changed?
RelayKit uses its own address to forward the message and adds "via RelayKit" to the sender's name. For messages you can reply to, the reply address lets you reply through your Relay Address.
Anyone can choose the name shown on an email. A familiar name alone doesn't tell you who sent it.
Different senders can share the same RelayKit domain. Blocking the whole domain can block mail you want too.
Does RelayKit filter spam?
Yes. We check incoming mail and reject messages with strong signs of spam. Some junk can still get through.
If the check isn't working, RelayKit asks the sender's mail server to try again later.
You can't review or recover rejected messages in RelayKit. Passing the spam check doesn't mean a message or attachment is safe to open.
Should I mark all RelayKit mail as safe?
No. A rule that trusts all RelayKit mail can let forwarded junk skip your inbox's spam filter. Don't add the whole RelayKit domain to a safe senders list or create a never-spam rule for it.
Keep your inbox's spam and security checks on. If a message you expected lands in junk, check that it's legitimate before marking just that message as not junk.
How do I stop one unwanted sender?
Open a message from that sender in the Relay Address's Activity. Choose Stop inbox forwarding if it's available, then Confirm stop forwarding.
RelayKit stops forwarding new mail from that sender for this Address. It still accepts the messages and runs any other actions you've set up. Mail already queued may still arrive.
To turn forwarding back on, open the Relay Address and use Suppressed senders. This only affects new mail. You can't recover earlier skipped messages in the App.
Senders can change or fake their email address, so this won't catch every unwanted message.
How do I stop mail to one address?
Turn off Accept incoming mail for the Relay Address. RelayKit will refuse new mail from every sender. Messages it already accepted may still arrive.
Switch it back on when you want to receive new mail again. You can't recover messages refused while it was off.
If you revoke the address, you can't undo it or reuse its name. Change the email on any accounts using it before you revoke it.
Do I need my own domain?
You can use a RelayKit domain if one is available to your Workspace. The address form chooses one for you. If none is ready, choose Finish domain setup.
You can also use your own domain once you've set up its DNS records. If you already use that domain for everyday email, consider a separate subdomain for RelayKit so you don't disturb your existing mail.
Should I put the service name in the address?
You don't need to. Keep the generated address and give it a private label to remember which account uses it. You will see the label in RelayKit, but it won't appear in the email address you share.
Where do I manage my account security?
Open Account, then Security, to check your sign-in and session settings. Do this before moving important accounts to a Relay Address, especially if you use that inbox to recover those accounts.
Will this stop mail already going to my old email?
No. Senders will keep using your old email until you update it with them. Move one account at a time, after you've checked that your Relay Address can receive mail and send replies.
